Robust yet lyrical this archetypal Jacobean has a gorgeous colour and toning which give the illusion of the plush crewelwork from which it derives. A printed adaptation of three late C17th crewelwork embroidered bed hangings, one in particular, with tiger striped tree of life format. These hangings show the strong influence of Indian imported cloths, freely interpreted by needleworkers of the William and Mary period.
